Series Jasba-Ronda:
The fascination of dignified patina

We perceive our living conditions as getting more and more complex, hectic and complicated: due to occupational stress, growing population and traffic density, medial overstimulation or mobile communication. As countermove to that, there is an ongoing trend towards slowing down, combined with the willingness to give rein to the development of things and nature. If something is ageing with dignity, one respectfully tends to speak of patina. Examples for this are metal surfaces which are slowly weathering over the years (or even decades) or the morbid charm radiated by so-called “lost places“ such as factory buildings, railway stations, warehouses etc. no longer used, when nature recaptures materials and surfaces. This “fascination of transitoriness“ was the source of inspiration for the new series Jasba-Ronda, which will be introduced into the market at the beginning of 2018.

This intention is ceramically realized by a sophisticated combination of various design elements and stylistic devices. Glazes with crystalline patina structures form the basis of Jasba-Ronda, which are developing at random by rusting and are reminiscent of abstract paintings. They are combined - in a manner of speaking as decorative “motif“ - with lattice-like structures and implied historical ornaments, which intentionally are not applied on the entire surface but only in partial areas. This skilful interplay leads to a surface rich in nuances with intense but well-balanced shades - an impression which is effectively underlined by the two colours cement-mix and rust-mix as well as the formats that can be supplied: the new collection is available as 2x2cm mosaic, 5x5cm mosaic (also in the non-slip Secura version without “motif“ and with slip resistance R10/B) and as 30x30cm tile. The latter meets the requirements of slip-resistance category R9 and thus can be used not only in private homes but also for public applications. The stylistic spectrum is similarly inspiring. The natural and at the same time elaborate, luxurious impression results in a casual look which creates a special ambience. Jasba-Ronda permits attractive dialogues of old and modern, thus harmonizing with classic or contemporary interior design styles. Particularly fascinating room concepts are those at which the ceramic surfaces looking corroded and “used“ meet with vanguard elements in order to practise the “principle of the amazing contrast“ at a high level in this way.

All these aesthetic qualities are rounded off by impressive practical advantages: the new collection is manufactured from high-quality, glazed, frost-proof stoneware and provided with the HT (“Hydrophilic Tiles“) coating already ex factory. This innovative solution is based on the effect of light and lends ceramic tiles revolutionary characteristics: they are extremely easy to clean, have an antibacterial effect without using chemical products and eliminate unwelcome odours as well as air pollutants. Thus, HT saves time and money and contributes to environmental protection thanks to the considerably reduced use of cleaning agents and disinfectants.

Jasba-Ronda is meant and made for individualists with a sense for the special things, who know what they want and also self-confidently express this by their interior design.
