The basis for the vote were a special supplement in the December 2011 issue and an online presentation realized at the same time in which the relevant products were uniformly presented (photo and short description). By voting slip, the readers could indicate their respective favourites until January 13, 2012 in the following seven categories: tiles, bases/sealing products, tile bonding agents/mortars, cleaning/care, laying accessories, tools and CAD systems. The announcement of the results awaited full of suspense and the presentation of the winners took place on February 2, 2012 at Cologne. The FLIESEN & PLATTEN forum, an experts meeting for the tile trade organized for the third time, was the appropriate occasion for this.
In the category of tiles, renowned manufacturers had participated, among them such well-known names like Cooperativa Ceramica D’Imola, Porcelaingres, Steuler and Villeroy & Boch. In the end, Deutsche Steinzeug Cremer & Breuer AG (DSCB) was the big winner, which could achieve an impressive double success with its two brands JASBA and AGROB BUCHTAL:
The peculiarity of these prizes is that they were not awarded by a jury but by the users of the products, which have them in their hands daily in the true sense of the word. Accordingly great was the joy of Marion Bürger (Head of Brand Management/Marketing of DSCB): “The fact that we take first and second place at this vote organized for the first time with our brands JASBA and AGROB BUCHTAL makes us very proud. For us as winners at its premiere, this result is an incentive and an obligation, because we know that tiles become a finished covering only by professional laying. That is why we thank our market partners very much for their appreciated commitment and this esteemed prize, which one may rightly consider as a sign of real partnership in practice.“

The secret in the category of tiles has been disclosed: according to the readers’ vote, the series HOMING of JASBA took first place, followed by the series XENO / wall decoration KATO of AGROB BUCHTAL and “bios anti-bacterial ceramics“ of CASALGRANDE PADANA.

Series HOMING
After the phase of retirement of the last years (“Cocooning“), the opening of the own private home (“Homing“) is increasingly taking place now again. This creation takes this change into account by modular components for an ambience full of atmosphere which conveys an “open-minded“ instead of a “narrow-minded“ impression. Diverse mosaics can be combined with larger wall and floor formats according to one’s individual taste. This great variability also applies to the structures and colours, which are fascinating thanks to high design quality. The spectrum comprises seashell-white, blueberry, hazelnut and plum (photo), a shade which seems to be a bit daring only at first glance, because this kind of capricious noblesse is always ”in vogue”.

Series XENO (decoration KATO)
Since its launch in the year 2007, the series XENO has excellently developed. Because of the above-average response, this creation was enlarged by new sophisticated elements in 2011. One of them is the decoration KATO, which acts as an essential part of the room architecture in the example shown here: the classic horizontal wall decoration turns into a three-dimensional band with integrated washbasin. KATO (15x60 cm) is the contemporary translation of a stripe design permitting great flexibility of application. Subtle irregularities and a metal shimmer lend its straight lines a silky look creating a stylish and harmonious atmosphere of well-being.
